the FreeSurfer mega-analysis of the OBIC consortium (12) was conducted using vertex-based analyses rather than the atlas-based approach we used in the current study. It is thus possible that certain abnormalities on vertex level are not detectable when averaging data across whole regions (27). Notably, the OBIC sample included only 1.5T scans and was processed using an older version of FreeSurfer V4.5. Future research using higher resolution parcellation (e.g., (28)) is necessary to validate our results.
