There is evidence that the brain transcriptome is especially enriched with mRNAs with longer 3′UTR sequences compared with other tissues; these might be required for transporting mRNA far away from the nuclei or for specific protein functions in the brain tissue (Ramskold, Wang, Burge, & Sandberg, 2009).
