Differences in data integrity between the two groups could conflate estimates of variability, therefore a number of analyses were carried out to ensure that data from both groups were of similar quality. The mean number of epochs analyzed did not differ between the two groups, TD = 58.6 [52 65], ASD = 53.3 [47 60], t(23) = −1.2, p = 0.241, suggesting that any differences in variability between the two groups are unlikely to arise from unequal number of epochs being submitted to analysis. There was no significant difference in the percentage variance accounted for by the selected ICs within the P1 time-window, TD = 70.7% [59.8 81.6], ASD group = 69% [58.6 79.5], t(23) < 1, p = 0.822. Furthermore, there was no significant group difference in residual variability of the dipole fit, TD = 7.1% [5.7 8.6], ASD = 5.9% [4.5 7.3], t(23) = −1.28, p = 0.213), suggesting that the quality of the ICA decomposition was similar between the two groups.
