Chunk #44 — Discussion

Source
A 14-year retrospective maternal report of alcohol consumption in pregnancy predicts pregnancy and teen outcomes.

Text

drinking was significantly related to pregnancy or later child outcomes that would not be directly influenced by maternal perceptions or expectations (i.e., birth measures, facial anomalies and teacher reports) so these outcomes minimize or avoid the impact of this potential maternal response bias. It does not seem, therefore, that differences in maternal motivation either to deny or exaggerate levels of in-pregnancy drinking after delivery explain higher retrospective report.
