Respondents were asked, “During the past 12 months, on how many days did you drink five or more drinks in a row?” Adolescent binge drinking was defined as consuming five or more drinks in a row at least 2–3 times per month in the past year at Wave I. The reference category included those who drank less frequently or had never consumed a drink of alcohol in their lives (non-binge drinkers).
