Collectively, a growing body of literature indicates that KOR antagonists are effective in reducing operant responding for ethanol, and efficacy of these agents appears to be especially apparent under conditions that engender high levels of ethanol intake (drinking associated with dependence), perhaps driven by an upregulation of the DYN/KOR system.
