indel and matched the reference genome sequence. All the eight of the samples with the higher risk haplotype had a copy of the indel. A diagram of the gene, based upon the reference sequence, is shown in Figure 1. The minor allele containing the indel is ancestral; BLAST analysis shows that the indel is contained in the Chimp genome (NW_001240342.1) and in the genome of the Rhesus macaque (AC202275.5).
