We used the online software David [40] to determine whether the three body weight related modules were significantly enriched with regard to known gene ontologies. The brown module is significantly enriched in categories "glycoprotein" (p = 2 × 10-24, Benjamini corrected) and "signal" (p = 1 × 10-22). The red module is enriched in "cell cycle" (p = 9 × 10-24) and "chromosome" (p = 5 × 10-20). The salmon module is most significantly enriched in the category "lipid synthesis" (p = 1 × 10-16). Overall, the high enrichment scores suggest that these modules are indeed biologically meaningful.
