Some of these factors may include the role of Pavlovian and instrumental conditioning or lever pressing in the operant study (Rodd et al., 2008), as well as total ethanol consumed or expected peak BACs achieved and reduced conditioning to environmental cues found in the home-cage setting of the present study (i.e., animals were habituated to the wire mesh home cages before ethanol was made available).
