(0.7–4.9) is not statistically significant in a model that makes a global contrast between respondents who ever smoked (i.e., pooling all the smoking categories) versus those who never smoked. In the case of attempts, finally, none of the ORs in the net effects model is statistically significant and there is no dose-response pattern across the coefficients to suggest that the odds of an attempt increase with higher smoking involvement.
