Text

In addition to this literature review, this paper presented a Monte Carlo analysis of four widely used non parametric inverse solutions: WMN, LORETA, sLORETA and SLF. These solutions were compared at different noise levels and for simulated dipoles at different depths within the brain. Using a three-layer spherical head model, results show that for a single source, regularized sLORETA gives the best performance both in terms of localization error and ghost sources, followed by regularized LORETA. From this one could conclude that for single source localization, the computational cost of SLF does not give any additional benefits over direct methods such as LORETA and sLORETA.
