Male Sprague-Dawley rats (Charles River, Boston, MA) were group-caged (3 per cage) and allowed to acclimate for 5–7 days prior to experimental testing. All animals were 40–45 days old at the beginning of experimental procedures and maintained on a 12-h/12-h light–dark cycle with lights on at 8:00 a.m. Food and water were available ad libitum in the home cages, unless otherwise noted. All experimental procedures were carried out in accordance with protocols established by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee of the Ramapo College of New Jersey.
