in which AO and delay predicted intercepts represented a truly prospective test of the effects of AO and delay on later drinking. The disturbances for the latent intercept and slope were allowed to freely covary. For adjacent time points, the error terms of the observed variables for heavy drinking/problems were allowed to freely correlate (e.g., the wave 4 error term covaried with the wave 3 and wave 5 error terms).
