African and European descends, respectively [Dodge and others 2014; Zuccolo and others 2013]. Our recent PheWAS increased the spectrum of phenotypic traits potentially associated with ADH1B variation [Polimanti and others 2016a]. We identified multiple findings related to psychological traits, socioeconomic status, vascular/metabolic conditions, and reproductive health and, applying Bayesian network learning algorithms to investigate the causative relationships among ADH1B, alcohol use, there novel traits, we observed that some of these observations may be independent from the role of ADH1B in alcohol metabolism and due to other ADH1B functions [Polimanti and others 2016a].
