There is also evidence that the effects of ADH1B*2 on sensitivity may differ across type of alcohol (see Linneberg et al., 2009) and on alcohol dependence may differ across ethnic groups (e.g., Whitfield, 2002), which suggests the importance of continuing to examine ADH1B across ethnic groups and in conjunction with other genetic, physiological, and environmental factors.
