in quantity or frequency of drinking, past treatment seeking, or the number of DSM symptoms. While antidepressant use was common prior to admission (52% of subjects), there were no associations between class assignment and use of an antidepressant. Other psychotropic medication use was rare. There were significant associations with the alcohol craving class assignment and assignment based on negative affect (p < 0.05) and between positive and negative affect classes (p < 0.001). There was no association between alcohol craving class and positive affect class.
