Respondents indicate the number of standard drinks required to experience up to four different effects (recognition of “any effect;” dizziness or slurred speech; stumbling gait; passing out) over three different time periods (their first five drinking episodes; the period of heaviest drinking in their lives; the most recent consecutive three months in which they drank). In order to approximate the time frame queried by the ASQ, only responses from the most recent consecutive three months of drinking (SRE 3-mo.) were used in the current analyses.3
