available, and would need to be tested in a larger number of strains. But, overall, they do not help in the selection of one measure of intoxication in mice over another for future studies. Neither were any of the measures of sedative response strongly associated with the severity of withdrawal. Finally, using the BXD RI set of data and other published reports [e.g. (Phillips et al. 1996)], we also failed to find strong relationships between either drinking or withdrawal and measures of sedative senstiivity.
