For Molecular Function, categories '0003700' (transcription factor activity) and '0003714' (transcription corepressor activity), with 497 and 74 genes, respectively, were just beyond the FDR significance cutoff with adjusted p-values of 0.056 and 0.078 (Additional File 3). For Cellular Component, nearly all significant categories were directly related to various aspects or cell-type specific (e.g. neuronal) specializations of the cellular membrane (9 of 13 hits at q = 0.05).
