A more careful examination of the temporal relationships between IBKs and their corresponding [Ca2+] revealed that IBKs began to decay at the time when [Ca2+] decreased to 2 µM (Fig. 7 A). This value is lower than the EC50 of BK channels to Ca2+, which is 3.5 µM in smooth muscle (Tanaka et al., 1997).
