Results indicate that CSA is a distinct risk factor for use of cigarettes and cannabis, especially at a young age, and a potent predictor of very early use of alcohol, and thus support the use of CSA history as a marker of high risk for substance-related problems. In addition, our findings highlight the importance of integrating substance abuse prevention into psychological support services for girls who have experienced CSA.
