Although our GxE effects were statistically significant only with delinquent behavior, we did observe a consistent pattern in the expected direction for aggression and externalizing as well. This suggests that the lack of statistical significance might be due to power rather than to the absence of effect; our data do not support a qualitative difference in GxE effects on delinquency versus aggression. It is worth noting that endorsement of items indicative of delinquent behavior was far lower than endorsement of aggressive behavior, even after weighting scores to account for the fact that the aggressive behavior scale has more items than the delinquency scale. These findings parallel the differences observed among the raters in the sense that the GxE effect was only significant when analyzing the less frequently endorsed behavior (i.e., delinquency). This may suggest that the finding is most apparent among more extreme externalizing behavior.
