It has been used in a variety of studies in a number of populations including adult children of alcoholics [aCOAs: see (Schuckit, Gold 1988;Eng et al. 2005;Schuckit et al. 1996)], Asians with the ALDH2*2 allele (Wall et al. 1992), and Native Americans (Garcia-Andrade et al. 1997). It appears to index LR to alcohol reliably in these populations and has been shown to account for almost 50% of the variance in response to alcohol in FHP men (Schuckit, Gold 1988).
