Ingenuity pathway analysis of the prioritized genes associated with DPW showed suggestively significant enrichment for pathways related to TR (Thyroid hormone receptor)/RXR (Retinoic X receptor) activation (P = 1.45 × 10−4), Lipoate biosynthesis (3.29 × 10−4), Estrogen biosynthesis (P = 6.39 × 10−3) and Sirtuin signaling (7.27 × 10−3) (Supplementary Data 8). In all, 410 pathways were tested using IPA and none of the pathway survived the threshold for multiple test correction (PBonferroni = 1.2 × 10−4). The DPW-associated genes were also part of networks associated with immune cell trafficking and cellular movements (cell migration). Due to insufficient power and a smaller number of genes passing the threshold of significance, we were not able to perform the pathway enrichment analysis for AUD.
