Thus, the OFC terminal fields are positioned between the vmPFC and dACC (Figure 4c). However, projections from the dACC extend dorsally and somewhat more centrally into the caudate nucleus and overlap with inputs from the medial parts of the dPFC (particularly rostral area 9). Importantly, that part of the cingulate cortex that is closely connected to motor areas projects to the dorsolateral striatum. These terminals do not extend into the VS.94
