Because of the significance differences in weight between +/+ and Lwt/+ animals, we first normalized consumption in terms of grams consumed per kilogram of mouse raised to the 2/3 power [43]. We found that the weight difference did not significantly influence interpretation of the experiments, so consumption data has been presented conventionally as g/kg/day or mls/kg/day.
