The dataset included in this study is a cross sectional sample of the COGA subjects who have had at least one assessment between the years 1989–2008 when they were between the ages of 12 and 25 years. Subjects were recruited from families affected with alcoholism (either as a first or second degree relative) and the comparison families in COGA. The assessment used SSAGA interviews (versions I through 4 and CSSAGA) comprehensive assessments of alcohol and other substance use and related behaviors [22], [23]. The sample consists of 693 families with size ranging from 4–27 (avg. 4.82) and 374 individuals without siblings.
