that reduced CB1R mRNA expression does not affect GAD67 mRNA levels. In concert with our previous finding that alterations in CB1R and GAD67 mRNA expression in schizophrenia are strongly correlated (r=0.64; p=0.001) (6), these data support the hypothesis that reduced GAD67 mRNA expression may drive lower CB1R mRNA expression in the DLPFC of subjects with schizophrenia, whereas deficient CB1R mRNA expression is unlikely to be a cause of lower GAD67 mRNA in the disorder.
