In order to better understand how Cyp1b1 deletion suppresses DIO, we have focused on the gene responses to Cyp1b1 deletion that are, respectively, either largely diet-independent or occur primarily on the HFD (Table 2). A substantial proportion of the diet-independent effects of Cyp1b1 deletion represent suppressions of endogenous PPARα activity, which are opposed by the administration of the specific PPARα ligand, Wy-14,643 (Table 3). PPARα expression is, however, scarcely affected by Cyp1b1 deletion.
