genetic correlation with PAU, extending the evidence for a shared genetic contribution to MDD and alcohol-related traits [21, 22]. PAU was positively correlated with risk-taking behavior, insomnia, CYP2A6 activity, and other traits, and negatively correlated with cognitive traits and parents’ age at death. These findings are in line with the known adverse medical, psychiatric, and social consequences of problem drinking (Figure 4).
