Despite a perception of being relatively uninformed about genetic research, most people were able to identify what they perceived to be some advantages of genetic research. The top themes were identifying and understanding the origins of diseases and conditions (48%), and preventing and/ or curing diseases through more timely, efficient, and targeted treatment (35%).
