at four distinct phases of the menstrual cycle (early follicular, late follicular, midluteal, late luteal) using a cumulative dosing alcohol procedure and the subjective effects, performance effects and alcohol choice did not vary across the menstrual cycle. At this time, there is limited evidence that menstrual cycle phase substantially alters either the pharmacokinetic or behavioral effects of alcohol, but these conclusions are based on a small number of carefully controlled laboratory studies and more definitive studies are needed.
