Several limitations of this study should be noted. The sample from the current study was initially drawn from first-time college freshman entering a large university, which limits generalizability of findings to noncollegiate populations. In addition, the sample is predominately White (93%) and thus caution should be taken in generalizing these findings to other racial/ethnic groups who may show different developmental trends in impulsivity.
