The SSAGA was previously used to study the association between particular internalizing characteristics and diagnoses (e.g., suicidality, major depressive disorder) and substance use disorders,29–35 but to our knowledge there exists no published report of an overall trans-diagnostic internalizing symptom scale based on this interview. Although the SSAGA has been shown to be reliable and valid at the diagnostic level, it is also necessary to establish the psychometric validity of scales derived from it, such as the Internalizing Scale proposed in this manuscript, for the purposes of conducting high-quality research.
