It is a limitation of the present study that we did not measure pTau in the multiplex immunoassay. This was due to a limitation of the technique, which could not differentiate and count individual microbeads labeled with pTau due to excessive protein aggregation and bead clustering. Methodological development efforts are underway in our laboratory with the goal of disaggregating pTau prior to measurement; however, future studies will utilize immunoblot or immunohistochemistry approaches to obtain pTau measurements across the brain.
