as a function of the time period during which these data were collected. Notably, the item not included in the 14-item version (i.e., “When I feel distressed or upset, I must do something about it immediately”) is intended only for computation of subscale scores, not the DTS total score (Simons & Gaher, 2005). High levels of DT are indicated by higher total scores on the DTS (Simons & Gaher, 2005). As in past work, the DTS total score was employed as a global index of perceived distress tolerance (Leyro, Zvolensky, & Bernstein, 2010). To date, the DTS has been demonstrated to be the most promising index of DT with regard to PTS symptom severity (Marshall et al., in press; Vujanovic, Bonn-Miller, et al., in press) and marijuana use motives (Zvolensky et al., 2009). The DTS has excellent psychometric properties (Simons & Gaher, 2005). In the present sample, the DTS demonstrated high internal consistency (alpha = .92).
