The SAQ Withdrawal scale (Hendricks et al., 2011) is a 7-item self-report measure that assesses the likelihood an individual expects to experience nicotine withdrawal symptoms after quitting smoking. Scores range from 0 to 42, and higher scores indicate greater negative reinforcement-related smoking abstinence expectancies. The SAQ Withdrawal scale has displayed good internal consistency and convergent validity in prior work (Hendricks et al., 2011).
