Rs10474485 was associated with remission of depressive symptoms, predominantly in individuals with anxious depression (Binder et al., 2010) and with depressive symptoms in alcoholics in a study that genotyped the same SNPs as in the current study, using the same platform (Kertes et al., 2010). Finally, rs10055255, located within the distal region of CRHBP (Fig. 3), has been shown to moderate stress-induced craving in heavy drinkers (Ray, 2011). Thus the results of our and other studies provide mounting evidence that CRHBP variation may play a role in stress-related disorders.
