The number of ChAT+IR neurons was counted manually using bioquant, and the area of the circumscribed region was reported in mm2 by Bioquant. The density of ChAT+IR neurons/mm2 was averaged between both hemispheres at each of the three distances from bregma and then averaged across the entire region investigated (+0.14 to −0.22).
