In order to analyze the Superarray data, the company recommended using a 2-way ANOVA with average ΔCt values followed by Bonferroni post-tests to identify statistically significant changes of individual genes while accounting for the multiple comparisons. To gain additional insight, simple t-tests of normalized ΔCt values were also performed on each gene using the company's spreadsheet, in order to identify candidate genes that may not reach statistical significance following the stricter Bonferroni method. The t-test analyses may result in type II errors resulting in false positives due to the multiple comparisons, but these statistics are presented in order to more completely identify candidate genes. Values in groups that received treatment during adolescence (i.e. P38 ethanol group, P88 control group, and P88 ethanol group) were compared to the P38 control group (Figure 1). Similarly, groups that underwent adult treatment (i.e. P98 ethanol group, P148 control, and P148 ethanol) were compared to the P98 control group.
