We collaborated with the other members of the Psychiatric Genomic Consortium (PGC) to include all available populations in a genome-wide association study (GWAS) of schizophrenia. The PGC reported five new schizophrenia loci in 2011 (Ripke et al., 2011). An expanded analysis of more than 30,000 patients and 35,000 controls is ongoing and appears highly successful (Ripke and Ruderfer, 2012).
