WTCCC: We employed previously published data from the WTCCC in order to test the association between allelic scores and disease status [17]. Briefly, the WTCCC is a GWAS involving individuals with one of seven diseases: bipolar disorder (1868 individuals), coronary heart disease (1926 individuals), Crohn's disease (1748 individuals), hypertension (1952 individuals), rheumatoid arthritis (1860 individuals), type I diabetes (1963 individuals) or type II diabetes (1924 individuals), as well as a common set of 1478 unselected controls from the 1958 British Birth Cohort and 1458 from the National Blood Service.
