It is also possible that alcoholism played a role in some hospital admissions of parental OPD without being reflected in the clinical diagnoses. Parental OPD also included abuse of other substances than alcohol, but this diagnosis was relatively rare and did not independently predict offspring AUD in a supplementary analysis.
