We found that ZDHHC5 was overexpressed in LUAD patients, which was based on large sample size. However, high-throughput data are challenging in the regard of reproducibility, so in vivo or in vitro experiments could further confirm our findings. Tian’s team has chosen 3 HBEC lines and 11 NSCLC cell lines, including the LUAD subtype, to explore the differential expression of ZDHHC5. The western blot revealed the upregulation of ZDHHC5 protein expression in NSCLC cell lines (Tian et al., 2015), which supported our finding. The biological function of ZDHHC5 in LUAD has been explored in vitro. Knocking-down ZDHHC5 inhibited the cell proliferation and colony formation of NSCLC cell lines, but not HBECs (Tian et al., 2015).
