Hepatic triglycerides increased in male WT mice in response to the HFD, while the Cyp1b1-ko mice were unaffected (Table 1). These triglycerides are primarily located in lipid droplets, which are visualized directly by Oil red O staining (Figure 5B) or as large vacuoles (ghosts) with H&E staining, after the ethanol extraction of the lipids (Figure 5D).
