Slice preparations of both chimeric mice and their littermate controls (age range 7–20 months) were used for recordings of field excitatory postsynaptic potentials (fEPSPs), as well as for analyzing activity-dependent changes in hippocampal synaptic strength, as outlined in Supplementary Methods.
