to increase engagement in aggressive behavior (Peled and Moretti 2007, 2010), including in children and adolescents. Finally, children with depression often engage in aggressive behaviors (Dodge 1993; Garber, et al. 1991) and have been shown to exhibit a hostile attribution bias similar to the bias observed in aggressive children (Quiggle, et al. 1992). Moreover, depressed children exhibit more anger and sadness than nondepressed children, but anger does not predict aggressive behavior in depressed children (Quiggle, et al. 1992). This indirectly suggests that emotion regulation difficulties related to sadness may play a role in aggressive behavior in depressed children.
