of our knowledge, association of CHRNA6 and CHRNB3 with dependence measured by DSM-IV has not been reported, nor has quit attempts been examined. In an effort to strengthen these recent findings as relevant to the general U.S. population, we present our results from testing a subset of SNPs in these genes in a population-representative sample using the DSM-IV definition of dependence.
