Text

As was done for the p-values, to simplify the analysis of age variation in the association trajectories, the absolute values of the 131 age-specific effect sizes for each SNP-phenotype pairing were averaged into 7 age-ranges of three years duration overlapping by one and one half years covering ages 12–24. The same procedure was applied to the absolute value of the difference between effect sizes for males and females for corresponding modality-locality-SNP combinations, The averaging procedure was in part adopted to ensure that the values represented biologically meaningful phenomena and were not the result of random short-term fluctuations in the data.
