Text

brain samples were from the rostral putamen and caudate nucleus. The samples from the caudate consisted mostly of the head with potentially some contribution from the anterior part of the body. The tissue was collected at the New South Wales Tissue Resource Center (TRC), University of Sydney, Australia (http://sydney.edu.au/medicine/pathology/trc/index.php). The description of the brain bank, the protocols, ethical approval and funding is described in Sheedy et al. (2008). All the samples from these two brain regions were collected from the same donors. All samples were collected by qualified pathologists under full ethical clearance and with informed, written consent from the next of kin. The detailed demographic data for all subjects are given in Table S2 in Supplementary Material.
